DJ Kentaro one of the most famous Japanese DJs, 2002 DMC world champ, and all round talented tablist is releasing a brand new mix CD and DVD outside of Japan via the Ninja Tune label this September.
Entitled 'On the Wheels of Solid Steel' this mix was originally put together for a Japan only release last year. Solid Steel, the legendary Ninja Tune radio show, asked Kentaro to compile the mix which sold over 15,000 copies in a few months. As a result and due to Kentaro's growing popularity outside of Japan (thanks to his recent tours and DMC title) Ninja Tune have decided to release the CD outside of Japan and accompany it with a DVD of Kentaro in action.

The guys at Ninja Tune surely know how to do things right. The DVD isn't just a small bonus thing either: with around 2h of footage it should keep you entertained.
The DVD contains a video version of the mix's intro, a multi angle session by Kentaro, a live show in Tokyo earlier this year, an animation based on the mix and a 'visuratch' mix by DJ Kentaro as well (like a VJ set, but with the audio and video controlled by Kentaro using the new DVJ pioneer decks). And if all this wasn't enough you then get a dope hour long mix of a load of Ninja Tune back catalogue tracks all mixed and mashed in trademark Kentaro style. Tracks include offerings from Jagga Jazzist, Wagon Christ, Cold Cut, Herbaliser feat Latryx, Vadim, Food, Pest and more.
Lastly Kentaro is also touring the UK at the minute, with four dates left including:
- Sugarbeat Club, Leeds on the 4th of June
- Tuesday Club, Fusion, Sheffield on the 7th of June
- Fabric, London on the 10th of June
- Liquid Rooms, Edinburgh on the 11h of June

You can check the Ninja Tune site and Kentaro site for more info on the man and the forthcoming release. The CD and DVD will be available from September on the label. And look out for a brand new interview with Kentaro right here next month.
