The good people behind Skrecz, the leading Polish turntablist site, are pushing things forward this year and expanding their recently established battle to welcome international heads.

The 2007 Skrecz.com Battle, held at the end of February, will this year host showcases from the likes of 2tall and Rafik as well as entrants from other European countries, including quite a few Scandinivian DJs who will be coming down en force. The event will also be filmed by our good friends at DJ Battle TV.

In addition they've secured sponsorship from Eclectic Breaks and the battle will be followed by a club night and feature visual works from VisualArt Project.

The competition itself will be split into two main events - the freestyle battle where eight DJs go head to head with improvised cuts over randomly chosen beats (the kind of thing we like to see - non of that superflous BS, just good ol' cuttin) and the pro battle, an invite only 6 minutes DMC style battle with Poland's finest. Expect to see the likes of Eprom and Pistolet repping at the pro battle - hopefully the invitational angle will ensure a fresh display of skills and music rather than the usual boring displays.

Overall this should definitely be something worth checking, and with Poland being so cheap it's as good an excuse as you're going to find for a holiday in Eastern Europe!

The battle takes place on the 24th of February at Club: Eskulap, ul.Przybyszewskiego 39, Poznan, Poland, and tickets are going for about 5 Euros! You can find more info over at battle.skrecz.com.
